GOOD NEWS FOR YOU
Luke 2:10-11; John 3:16, 17; 1 Timothy 1:15
News are selected pieces of information about events that occurred or is taking place
somewhere nearby or far away. Some news are said to be bad because, such stories do not
bring joy, comfort, peace, relief or hope to the hearts of the hearers. Bad news sometimes brings
tears, pain, regret, sorrow or even loss of appetite. Children, have you heard or received any
good news before? The good news could be that your mummy has just had a new baby or you
passed your examination very well or your daddy and mummy have returned home after a long
journey. How did you feel when you received such news? Good news rejoices the heart,
strengthens the body, brings relief and hope (Proverbs 12:25). Sometimes, some people are not
interested in whatever news that is being spread around. This is because such news has no
direct effect on them. However, there is a great news which everyone on earth must hear, accept
and believe. It is called „Good News‟. It is the greatest news that has come to man. You must
therefore listen to this great news, believe it and spread it all around you. The message is
divided into three parts.
1. THE GOOD NEWS: John 3:16, 17; 1 Timothy 1:15; Matthew 4:23.
The Good News to you is from God Almighty who cannot lie, (Hebrews 6:18; Numbers 23:19).
God‟s Good News brings hope to the world and joy to all mankind. The summary of the Good
News is stated in (John 3:16, 17). “For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting
life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world
through Him might be saved”. What a wonderful news!. That God loves you and has given His
beloved Son; and through Him all your sins (wrong doings) can be forgiven. Also for your guilt
to be removed, your soul saved from the punishment of sin in hell fire (Psalm 9:17) your fear
and failure taken away, your sicknesses healed, your sorrowful heart comforted and finally,
that you can live in Heaven with Jesus (John 14:1-3). This News is essential for you. However,
for you to enjoy the blessings of this Good News, you have a part to play.
2. YOUR ATTITUDE TO THE GOOD NEWS: Acts 17:30; Proverbs 28:13.
Receiving and enjoying the benefits of this Good News is as simple as A, B, C. you must:
(a) Accept it - Accept that it is true and agree that it is especially for you. You cannot reject
God‟s love (John 3:16) (b) Believe it - To believe is to pray and put your trust and confidence in
Jesus that He alone can save you from your bad ways (Mark 1:15). Believing is both trusting in
Jesus‟ Words as reliable and relying on Him for the power to change your life for good.
(c)Confess -To confess is to make known and tell Jesus all the bad things you have done and
ask Him for forgiveness and power to go and sin no more (John 8:11). The good news will profit
you. You will then enjoy God‟s blessings and be a source of blessings to others.
3. SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS: 2 Timothy 4:2.
It is natural that when somebody hears good news, he will be eager to share it with others.
When you receive the good news about Christ, and accepts the good news; it is important for
you to spread the news so that others can benefit from it. You are to speak or preach the love of
God, which is the Good News to other people. Tell them that Jesus has power to save and
deliver because He has promised “…. and him (she), that cometh to me I will in no wise
cast out” (John 6:37). Are you ready to spread the gospel? Many sinful children are waiting to
hear this good news, so that they can also benefit from the good news.
Therefore, go out and spread the good news today! Go tell them about Jesus love, how He saved
you and gave you a new life. Go and bring other children to this Children Holiday Bible School.
